Barham wins Rising Star nomination
Collingwood midfielder Jaxson Barham has clinched the round four AFL Rising Star nomination.
The 20-year-old made an outstanding debut against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Friday night where he took on Lions star Luke Power.
Barham gathered 28 disposals including 17 kicks, 11 handballs and six marks while his pressure in the wet conditions featured a game-high nine tackles.
He secured a senior call up on the back of a best on ground performance with Collingwood's VFL team last week.
Barham played in the VFL most of last season where he averaged 16 disposals a game and was named an emergency for Collingwood's Round 22 match against Fremantle.
He is the son of former Collingwood star Ricky Barham who played 151 matches with the club from 1977-86.
Jaxson was selected by Collingwood under the father-son rule with pick 61 in the 2007 AFL Draft.
He was one of three father-son selections in 2007 joining Essendon's Darcy Daniher and Adam Donohue of Geelong.
Barham was recruited from the Lorne Football Club and the Geelong Falcons.
