Demon wins Rising Star nomination
Star Melbourne recruit Jack Trengove has won the AFL round five Rising Star nomination.
Trengove played a key role in Melbourne's third successive victory, upsetting previously undefeated Brisbane at the MCG on Saturday night.
In a best on ground performance, he gathered a career-high 24 disposals and kicked two goals to lead the Demons to a 50-point victory.
After making his debut in round one against Hawthorn, Trengove has played all five matches this season and averaged 20 possessions.
Originally from Kybybolite Football Club in South Australia, he was selected by Melbourne with pick two in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft after being named All-Australian at the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships.
Trengove is Melbourne's first NAB AFL Rising Star nominee for 2010 and the club's sixth nominee since the 2008 season.
