Ebert the round 17 Rising Star nominee
West Coast have another reason to celebrate last weekend's drought-breaking win over St Kilda, with young midfielder Brad Ebert earning the round 17 nomination for the AFL Rising Star award.
Ebert, 18, had the best of his 13 games for the Eagles on Sunday, accumulating 25 possessions and kicking three goals in the 17-point victory which snapped a seven-match losing streak by the club.
Ebert, who played his junior football in South Australia with Henley and the Port Adelaide Magpies, was taken by the Eagles with pick No.13 in the 2007 national draft.
"Brad has impressed us all with his attitude and willingness to learn from the day he joined the club," said West Coast coach John Worsfold.
"He earned his opportunities through outstanding form in the WAFL and has shown why our recruiting staff rated him so highly last year."
Brad Ebert is the nephew of SA football legend Russell Ebert and the cousin of Port forward Brett Ebert.
He is West Coast's second Rising Star nominee this season, joining Ben McKinley in round five.
