Reid earns Rising Star nomination
Collingwood key-position player Ben Reid has been rewarded for his impressive showing in Monday's dramatic draw against Melbourne with the round 12 nomination for the AFL Rising Star award.
Reid, 20, gathered a career-high 22 possessions playing across half-back.
After debuting three years ago, Reid has played nine of the Magpies' 14 games in 2010, averaging 14 possessions per week.
"Ben came here as a very slight lad, he's put on some weight, and he's learning as he goes," said Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse.
"It's a credit to Ben. He works very hard to improve his game, and seeks advice from other players."
Reid was recruited from the Murray Under 18s as the eighth overall selection in the 2006 national draft.
