Swans' Reid is Rising Star nominee
Teenage Sydney forward Sam Reid has been rewarded for recent impressive form with the AFL's round 12 Rising Star nomination.
Reid slotted two goals in the Swans' 10-point victory over Richmond on Sunday and becomes the first Sydney player since midfielder Dan Hannebery in 2010 to receive a Rising Star nomination.
Hannebery went on to claim the overall Rising Star award last year, and Sydney coach John Longmire believes Reid is just as deserving.
"As a 19-year-old in his second season of AFL football, Sam has been outstanding for us in our forward line," Longmire said.
"He is a fantastic athlete and a fierce competitor.
"One of the really pleasing aspects of his game is his follow up and pressure, which brings other players into the game."
