Batchelor wins Rising Star nomination
Richmond defender Jake Batchelor is the round 16 AFL Rising Star nominee.
Batchelor played his best match for the Tigers against Essendon at the MCG last Saturday night with 11 kicks and six marks.
His opponents included the experienced Bombers Alwyn Davey, Kyle Reimers, Leroy Jetta and Angus Monfries.
The 19-year-old made his AFL debut in round one and has played 13 matches this year.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said Batchelor's development had continued throughout the season.
"Jake has worked really hard to get his opportunity and we have been impressed with how composed he looks at the highest level," Hardwick said.
"He has become one of our most reliable kicks coming out of defence and is an outstanding character around the club."
Recruited from the Frankston Rovers Junior Football Club and the Dandenong Stingrays, Batchelor was Richmond's second selection (selection 30 overall) in the 2010 AFL Draft.
