Suns gain second Rising Star nomination
Zac Smith has become AFL newcomer Gold Coast's second Rising Star nominee.
The 21-year-old ruckman had 22 disposals, including seven marks, in the Suns' upset eight-point win over Queensland rivals Brisbane on Saturday.
Rockhampton-raised Smith's nomination follows that of teammate Brandon Matera after the round five win over Port Adelaide.
Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna said Smith had worked extremely hard since arriving at the club three years ago.
"I have seen Zac learn and grow into the exciting player that he is becoming," McKenna said.
"He has been playing AFL for just over five years now, and in his previous two seasons with the club, through under-18s and in the VFL, he won our most professional player award, setting a great example for his teammates to follow."
