Shuey the round Rising Star nominee
West Coast's Luke Shuey has claimed the round-two nomination for the AFL Rising Star award after helping the Eagles to two straight victories to begin the 2011 season.
The 20-year-old midfielder amassed 27 possessions, six marks and three goals in the 18-point victory over Port Adelaide at AAMI stadium last Saturday.
Shuey was recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers by the Eagles with pick No.18 in the 2008 national draft, but injury had kept him sidelined for most of the past two seasons.
"Luke is highly rated around the club and we're happy to have him up and running after a couple of injury-interrupted seasons," said West Coast coach John Worsfold.
"He reads the play well, his skills are clean and it's great that he's now been able to show what he's capable of."
