Cats too strong for Sixers
Perth survived a hot shooting night from Adelaide import Willie Farley to move into the NBL's top four with a tough 108-101 victory over the Sixers at Challenge Stadium.
The Wildcats led at every change to achieve a 6-2 record after being written off as playoff contenders by many pundits in the pre-season.
Adelaide produced a 12-2 run in the final quarter to take an 85-84 lead with nine minutes remaining, but the home side responded for a well-earned seven-point win.
Tony Ronaldson led the Cats with 23 points, while import Rashad Tucker had 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Farley, the league's leading scorer averaging 23.3 points entering the game, hit 26 points including 5-of-11 from three-point territory.
Oscar Forman (23 points) and Brett Maher (22) were also on song from deep, but they lacked support.
Top of the ladder one week ago, Adelaide (5-3) has now lost two straight to slip out of the top four.
Tucker (knee) and team-mate Matt Burston (ankle) were both limited by injuries they carried into the game, but the deep Wildcats bench stepped up to lead the home side to a spirited victory.
Perth burst out of the blocks, enjoying an early 18-8 lead before the visitors began heating up from three-point territory.
Farley, Forman and Jason Williams all hit triples as Adelaide connected on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc to trail 30-29 at quarter-time.
