Sixers down Kings
The Adelaide 36ers produced a remarkable final quarter comeback to down the Sydney Kings 116-105 in a thrilling NBL game in Adelaide on Friday night.
Sixers import Dusty Rychart was unstoppable, scoring a mammoth 40 points to give Adelaide the most unlikely of victories after Sydney led 88-78 at three quarter time.
Adelaide was searching for scoring options from the outset, with Rychart and Willie Farley carrying the lacklustre Sixers in the first half.
In stark contrast, Sydney enjoyed scoring contributions from all corners of the court in the early stages, exploiting Adelaide's distinct lack of height.
Sydney big men Rolan Roberts and Mark Sanford slaughtered the home side to give the Kings a comfortable 57-51 halftime lead.
A brilliant Farley steal sparked a 10-2 Adelaide run early in the third quarter, but the Kings answered through Sanford and Brad Sheridan to take a ten-point buffer into the final stanza.
Rychart took a gutsy charging foul to start the fourth quarter, sparking a dramatic momentum shift.
With 8:10 remaining Brett Maher nailed a fade away jump shot to give Adelaide an unlikely lead and the Kings looked shell-shocked.
Rychart continued to pile on the points, but a contentious blocking foul had the Sixers dynamo foul out with an amazing 40 points to his name.
Sydney's inside dominance had all but disappeared, but a Luke Martin long bomb kept the Kings within three points with 1:40 to play.
