Perth coach goes wild
A furious outburst from coach Scott Fisher summed up a disastrous night for the Perth Wildcats as they were embarrassed 110-88 at home by the Adelaide 36ers.
Incensed with two refereeing decisions in the second quarter, rookie coach Fisher blew his top, hurling an advertising hoarding on court.
Oblivious to the fire on the Perth bench, Adelaide's Willie Farley (21 points) and Jacob Holmes (18 points) iced the home side with some deadly shooting to gain a significant win for the South Australians in the race for the play-offs.
Before tip off, Perth's injury-ravaged start season continued when rising star Rosell Ellis was ruled out of the showdown with an ongoing hamstring injury.
The story got even worse for the home side when, only two minutes into the game, talisman Ricky Grace hobbled off court.
That allowed Farley to go to work, his two three pointers helping the visitors to an eight point first quarter advantage.
Perth forward Ontario Lett's physicality had already drawn the attention of referees in previous games and, with less then a minute gone in the second term, the 106kg Lett notched his third personal foul.
Seconds later, AJ Mastrovich was called after a desperate lunge for a loose ball, prompting Fisher's amazing outburst and a technical foul which Adelaide capitalised on.
Fisher's mood was not improved with his side's subsequent efforts, his makeshift lineup shooting just 50 per cent from the free throw line and one of eight outside the arc in the first half to go in trailing by 14.
In the second half the 36ers - and in particular Oscar Forman - ruthlessly punished any errors.
