Giants upset Sixers in thriller
The Victoria Giants thwarted the Adelaide 36ers' push for an NBL top-three finish with an upset 99-97 win that went down to the wire at the Clipsal Powerhouse.
After leading by 24 points midway through the second term, the Giants endured a devastating 22-4 run to the Sixers which saw the home side take the lead 62-61 midway through the third.
But the Giants fought back to take a slim two-point lead 76-74 going into the last quarter.
Nathan Crosswell, who hit an equal game-high 23 points, hit three triples in the final term as the Giants grafted a slim 95-88 lead with 4:47 remaining on the clock.
But again the Sixers fought back, a Mark Nash two tied it up with two minutes remaining.
Daryl McDonald drove to the basket for two followed by a dunk to Pero Vasiljevic.
Two-from-two to Brett Maher at the foul line kept the Sixers in it and, with only seconds on the clock, the Sixers had the chance to tie it up but missed three consecutive shots.
Bullocking forward Jamahl Mosley hit 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the visitors while Brett Maher hit 23 and Dusty Rychart 22 for the Sixers.
