Roosters sack two NRL Toyota Cup players
Sydney Roosters have enforced their strict code of conduct on the eve of the NRL finals, sacking two Toyota Cup players for disciplinary reasons.
The club said in a statement released on Thursday afternoon that the incident did not involve alcohol, but went against the attitude the club wants to represent in 2010.
"The incident, which started out as a prank, did not involved alcohol however the behaviour was unacceptable and the club saw it fit to take the strongest action possible," the statement read.
"The Club started the 2010 season with the mantra `New Attitude. New Beginning' and it is disappointing that this incident has occurred.
"Throughout the 2010 season the Sydney Roosters have lived by this mantra and will continue to enforce the code of conduct as set by the players and management."
The Roosters, who finished fifth on the Toyota Cup ladder this season, are due to play North Queensland on Saturday at the Sydney Football Stadium.
