Warriors hit with $5000 in fines
The NRL has slugged the Warriors with breach notices totalling $5000 following Saturday's clash with Sydney Roosters at Mount Smart Stadium.
The club have been handed a $3000 penalty for their delay in taking the field to start the match, which they won 24-12.
The Roosters were left waiting for three minutes for Ivan Cleary's side to run out, with coach Brian Smith labelling the Warriors' actions "unprofessional".
Warriors assistant coach Ruben Wiki was fined $2000 for making contact with a player during an on-field altercation.
The former New Zealand skipper became involved when some pushing and shoving broke out between players from both sides on the sideline.
"In relation to the Warriors failing to enter the field of play when requested, we understand that there were some extenuating circumstances," said NRL football operations chief Nathan McGuirk.
"But teams are fully aware of their responsibilities to enter the field of play when required.
"In regards to the second breach notice, Mr Wiki may have had the best of intentions but there is absolutely no reason for any trainer to place his hands on an opposing player or to become involved in the play in those circumstances.
"There are strict guidelines in place around the conduct of trainers on the field and failure to adhere to these can lead to a trainer being fined and possibly suspended."
