Bulldogs facing civil action
A 20-year-old Coffs Harbour woman who accused six Bulldogs players of gang rape will launch civil action against the rugby league club, it's been reported.
Police closed the case against the six accused players because there was not enough evidence to charge them, but maintained some of the evidence substantiated the woman's claims.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported a high-profile lawyer would help the family launch a civil case against the players alleged to have attacked the woman.
A timetable for the action or the particulars of the claim had not been disclosed at this stage, the report said.
While in a criminal case the person must be found guilty "beyond reasonable doubt", in a civil case it is judged "on the balance of probabilities".
