Insulted El Masri refuses to talk
Bulldogs star Hazem El Masri refused to cooperate with police investigating pack rape allegations, saying he was insulted and distraught at being dragged into the sex scandal.
Six more Bulldogs players supplied DNA samples to police in Sydney on Thursday morning, taking to 17 the number of club members interviewed over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman at Coffs Harbour.
All Bulldogs players who were at Coffs Harbour will be called for interview.
El Masri, 27, arrived at the Sydney Police Centre with his lawyer, manager and friend Adam Houda shortly before 3.30pm (AEDT).
He spoke with police for just 10 minutes, telling them he would not give a DNA sample or be questioned, Mr Houda said.
The lawyer said his client was offended at being linked with other players accused of the sexual assault.
"Hazem's probably the best role model in the game of rugby league, he feels really insulted at being asked questions in relation to this matter," Mr Houda told AAP.
"He's distraught, the ridicule in the public and the harm that has been brought to the club is very hard for Hazem to take.
"He doesn't want to be associated with the incident.
"He feels insulted about being asked questions about what he was doing."
