Alleged rape victim's 'warning'
A Coffs Harbour woman who claims she was raped by a Bulldogs rugby league player a year ago says she was told by team officials not to go to the police.
The incident was reported to have occurred at the same resort where a 20-year-old woman alleges she was gang-raped by six of the club's players on February 22.
The 43-year-old single mother told Channel Nine she was assaulted at Pacific Bay Hotel at the mid-north NSW coast town by a first-grade rugby league player before the start of the season in February last year.
The woman said she was approached by two Bulldogs' officials after the incident who tried to dissuade her from contacting the police.
"They said: `no, no don't go to the police ... we'll deal with it in our tribunal'," she told 60 Minutes.
The woman said the rape occurred in the darkness of a room where she earlier had consensual sex with the player's teammate.
Another Bulldogs' player watched from the bathroom of the room, she said.
"As far as I knew there was one and I was going back (to the apartment) with him and not any more than him," the woman, disguised with a wig and using a false name, said.
"I class it as a rape. I didn't give them consent whatsoever."
She said she assumed she was having sex with the first footballer, rather than his teammate, because he had left the room and returned and they did not have "face-to-face contact".
