McDonald back for Bushrangers
Victorian all-rounder Andrew McDonald will return to bolster the Bushrangers side for the Pura Cup cricket match against Tasmania, starting Friday at the MCG.
McDonald, Victoria's best player in the four-day competition last summer, will return to the side after shoulder surgery forced him to miss the defeat to Western Australia.
But he will play as a middle-order batsman only, as he is unlikely to bowl.
Opener Lloyd Mash will also play after getting a call-up to play for the Cricket Australia Chairman's XI against Sri Lanka last month, while left-arm paceman Allan Wise could play his first match in over a season.
Wise, who had his 2006-07 ruined by stress fractures in his back, has been named in the squad of 12.
The three players cut from the squad are fast bowlers Peter Siddle (dislocated shoulder) and Dirk Nannes (ankle), who are injured, and batsman Michael Klinger, who has been dropped.
Siddle has been cleared of serious damage but could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Victoria: Cameron White (capt), Gerard Denton, Shane Harwood, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Nick Jewell, Andrew McDonald, Bryce McGain, Lloyd Mash, Robert Quiney, Matthew Wade, Allan Wise (12th man to be named).
