Highlanders rugby player to face action
Highlanders Super Rugby five-eighth Robbie Robinson is facing an internal disciplinary hearing after being arrested in Dunedin early on Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old was pepper-sprayed by police, arrested and held in a police cell after the incident. He was released later in the morning and was not charged.
Highlanders general manager Roger Clark told the Otago Daily Times that Robinson was walking home when he got into a scuffle with another male.
"We set high standards right across the organisation and this sort of behaviour is not acceptable," Clark said.
"These kids are in a privileged position and have to act responsibly no matter what happens."
Clark said the Highlanders were disappointed with the incident and action would be taken.
Robinson had come off the bench to feature in the Highlanders' 44-13 loss to the Crusaders at Carisbrook on Saturday evening.
