All Black to face misconduct hearing
All Black Jerome Kaino will face a misconduct hearing by the New Zealand Rugby Union after being fined in court for drink-driving.
Kaino, 25, was fined $NZ800 ($A630) and banned from driving for six months after pleading guilty in Auckland District Court to driving with excess alcohol in Auckland on June 27.
He was breath-tested after the BMW he was driving was involved in a nose to tail incident in Dominion Rd.
His blood alcohol reading was 834 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath. The legal limit is 400.
After the court hearing the NZRU said Kaino would face a misconduct hearing within the next two to three weeks.
Kaino told NZPA he was not proud of drinking and driving and it was not something he would be doing again.
He said he took full responsibility for his actions and had expected disciplinary action from the union, but wanted to "push it all behind me and get on with life".
