Ex-Warrior Witt set for Otago debut
Former Warriors NRL player Michael Witt will make his rugby union debut for Otago in a pre-season match against North Otago in Oamaru on Wednesday.
Witt, who moved south in March to play for the Taieri club, has been named on the bench for Otago along with fellow ex-Warrior Ryan Shortland.
The Australian five-eighth has scored 62 points in the Dunedin premier club grade this season.
He switched to rugby after Warriors coach Ivan Cleary decided he was surplus to requirements.
Witt said his main goal was to make the Highlanders' Super 14 squad next season.
