Blues tinker with back four for Dunedin trip
Never change a winning side or at least delay it until necessary.
The Blues dismissed both those rugby theories as they strutted their selection stuff for their next Super 12 challenge, a visit to Carisbrook in Dunedin on Friday to play the Highlanders.
Coach Peter Sloane has juggled the back four again after the latest 41-15 win against the Brumbies as he looks to counter some anticipated tactics from the Highlanders.
Wing Joe Rokocoko has been rested with last season's regular centre Rico Gear moving into the side.
That creates a rearrangement, with Mils Muliaina switching to fullback and Doug Howlett resuming his regular work on the wing.
"Without giving too much away we are just having a think about where they (Highlanders) might go," Sloane said.
"We have faith in everybody in the squad, Mils is experienced at fullback and if they are kicking we have the set-up at the back to deal with it.
"Rico was also very good at centre against the Reds and he is ready for this."
While the Blues have reconfigured their three-quarters they know they will be given a serious exam up front.
After a slow start the Highlanders churned into the Crusaders last weekend, disrupting their scrum and ruling the lineouts.
