De Villiers in trouble again
Springboks coach Peter de Villiers is facing another disciplinary hearing, this time over his "100 per cent" support of accused murderer and Bulls rugby prop Bees Roux.
South African media are reporting de Villiers will be hauled over the coals by SARU officials following his comment the "team supports (Roux) 100 per cent, not on the deed, but rather on the circumstances that led to the situation developing".
Roux has been charged with beating a police officer to death in Pretoria last week and has claimed he was acting in self-defence because he was being robbed.
The 29-year-old is on bail and has been granted leave by South African provincial and Super rugby franchise the Bulls.
SARU president Oregan Hoskins told website timeslive.co.za: "I have no comment to make at this stage, but I have seen the comments Peter made.
"I want the team to focus on Saturday's Tri-Nations game against Australia in Bloemfontein."
But, quoting an unnamed official, the website claims the outspoken de Villiers could face a charge of bringing the game into disrepute which might threaten his job.
"We are not only unhappy with what he said regarding the Roux incident, but also over his previous comments" the official reportedly said.
Last month de Villiers escaped penalty at a SANZAR disciplinary hearing after appearing to suggest New Zealand had received preferential treatment from referees.
