Parramatta forward Ben Smith could miss two weeks but team-mate Fuifui Moimoi can play against Brisbane this weekend after the Eels pair were charged over high shots on Gold Coast captain Scott Prince.

Second-rower Smith has received a grade two dangerous contact charge from the NRL match review committee for his shot after Prince had a kick during Friday's 34-12 win by the Titans.

He will miss one game if pleads guilty, two if he loses at the NRL judiciary.

Moimoi will be free to play in Friday's crucial Suncorp Stadium clash if he takes the early plea to a grade one careless high tackle charge for a swinging arm.

Moimoi will miss a week if he is unsuccessful at the judiciary.

North Queensland prop James Tamou will miss two weeks for his cheap shot on Brisbane forward Josh McGuire in Friday's 34-26 loss regardless of whether he accepts or fights a grade two striking charge.

South Sydney winger Nathan Merritt and Wests Tigers forward Gareth Ellis both avoided punishment for controversial incidents in the Rabbitohs' thrilling golden point win at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

Merritt went on report for collecting Tigers centre Chris Lawrence high, a tackle which left the City Origin centre heavily concussed.

Ellis' tackle on Souths' John Sutton, which resulted in a season-ending dislocated shoulder for the five-eighth, was also looked at by the committee.

Roosters pair Jason Ryles and Anthony Minichiello will be free to play against Cronulla on Friday with early pleas after low grade charges out of Sunday's 19-12 loss to St George Illawarra at the SCG.

Ryles has received a grade one charge for dangerous contact to the head or neck, while Minichiello has copped a grade one booking for dangerous contact with the legs or feet.

Manly halfback Trent Hodkinson can play against the Dragons on Monday night with the early plea after receiving a grade one charge for a dangerous throw in the Sea Eagles' 26-6 win over Melbourne.

He will miss one game with an unsuccessful challenge.

And Newcastle's Ben Cross can play the Warriors regardless of his plea after receiving a grade one high tackle charge.
