Carney, Jeremy Smith cleared for decider
Sydney Roosters playmaker Todd Carney and St George Illawarra enforcer Jeremy Smith are both free to play in Sunday's NRL grand final after accepting early guilty pleas on Monday morning.
Dally M Medallist Carney was charged with a grade-one careless high tackle on Gold Coast captain Scott Prince, while Smith was hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge on Wests Tiger Lote Tuqiri.
Both will escape suspension and take carry-over points into the 2011 NRL season.
Carney caught Prince high in the 37th minute of the Roosters' 32-6 preliminary final win over the Titans last Friday night in Brisbane.
Smith controversially collected Tuqiri with his knees in the 73rd minute of Saturday night's 13-12 victory, which left the dual international with suspected broken ribs but did not result in a penalty.
