Richards five-try haul blows out Dragons
A superb five-try haul by Australia's Pat Richards lifted Wigan to a 58-0 win over Catalans Dragons on Friday night to maintain the Warriors' perfect start to the Super League season.
The wing touched down in the ninth, 15th, 20th, 37th and 75th minutes as the rampant Warriors sealed their fourth successive win in remarkable fashion.
Loose forward Sean O'Loughlin and wing Darrell Goulding also went over in the first half before Thomas Leuluai and George Carmont (two) got in on the act after the break.
Richards converted all but one of his side's 10 tries in a personal 38-point haul that further fuelled the feelgood factor engulfing the famous old club at the moment.
The once mighty Warriors have not lifted a trophy since 2002 but new coach Michael Maguire has quickly fashioned a side that looks capable of mounting a credible challenge this year.
They now top the table on eight points.
Elsewhere on Friday, second-placed Hull beat Harlequins 28-4, Bradford won 7-0 at Salford and St Helens saw off Wakefield 22-16.
On Saturday Castelford host Hull KR while on Sunday Warrington are at Huddersfield.
