Gidley helps steer Saints to top spot
Former Australian Test centre Matt Gidley scored one of the St Helens tries in a 19-12 win over Wigan which sent his team to the top of the Super League on Thursday.
Wigan had led 12-6 at one stage, but failed to turn their territorial advantage into points and paid the price.
Gidley and Leon Pryce sealed victory with two tries in three minutes, putting a dampener on former Saints star Martin Gleeson's debut for Wigan.
Jerome Guisset's two tries ensured Catalans Dragons recorded only their second victory of the season, 28-24 at Harlequins.
The France captain scored in each half, while Casey McGuire, Clint Greenshields and Olivier Elima also crossing.
Quins struggled to get into the game and despite a late charge, tries from Matt Gardner, Jason Golden, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Chris Melling were not enough.
