Eight-try Wigan extend Super League edge
Wigan ran in eight tries in a 48-24 victory over Hull on Friday to open up a two-point lead at the top of the Super League.
Cameron Phelps, Martin Gleeson, Pat Richards, Sam Tomkins (2), Darrell Goulding (2) and Amos Roberts all scored for Wigan, a performance which pleased coach Michael Maguire after last week's defeat at Bradford.
"The boys throughout the week really showed a lot of commitment to their training and they got their rewards tonight," he said.
"It was pleasing to see the way they turned themselves around."
Hull coach Richard Agar admitted his side had been badly beaten.
"I thought Wigan played strongly but we heaped a bit of pressure on ourselves with some errors in our own half and poor kick-finishes and a whole host of penalties," he said.
"They certainly made the most of their territorial advantage. We needed a decent share of possession and field position in the start of the second half we couldn't get out of our own half."
Meanwhile, Crusaders coach Brian Noble confirmed that former Wales and British Lions skipper Gareth Thomas should make his debut for the club in next Friday's home clash against Catalans Dragons.
Noble was speaking after his side's 37-30 defeat at St Helens.
"Gareth will be ready for next week," said Noble. "He has practised really well but it's been a bit strange when you are having to teach how to carry out the play-the-ball.
"But he's an absolutely quality player and a quality person."
