Fraser named AFL match review panel boss
The AFL has appointed a man with experience as both an AFL player and umpire as the new head of its match review panel.
Former Collingwood and Essendon player Mark Fraser, who also umpired five games before retiring due to injury, will replace Andrew McKay, the former Carlton player who served for five years on the panel, including three as chairman.
AFL football operations general manager Adrian Anderson said Fraser was an excellent candidate to scrutinise reportable incidents.
"The AFL is delighted to appoint Mark to fill the position as chairman of the match review tribunal, especially with his background as both a player and an umpire at the elite level," Anderson said.
"The clubs and umpire groups where Mark has been involved all speak extremely highly of his integrity and his decision-making ability."
