ICC to review Hair's umpiring future
The International Cricket Council (ICC) will review Australian Darrell Hair's future as an elite panel umpire at next month's executive board meeting in Mumbai, chief executive Malcolm Speed said.
"At this stage this is an agenda issue for the ICC executive board meeting in Mumbai on November 3 and 4," Speed told reporters.
"I think we will have more of it at the end of it.
"As to the future, Darrell is one of the top umpires of the world. I hope we can find a way out for him to continue to umpire at that level."
Hair was omitted from the Champions Trophy after his role in the fourth Test between England and Pakistan at The Oval in August when the visitors forfeited the match after they were penalised for ball-tampering.
Pakistan refused to take the field after tea on the fourth day after Hair and fellow umpire Billy Doctrove changed the ball and penalised them five runs for alleged ball-tampering.
Pakistan skipper Inzmam-ul Haq was subsequently cleared of ball-tampering but banned for four one-day games for bringing the game into disrepute.
The Pakistan board asked the ICC not to appoint Hair for any future games involving its team.
He was then left out of the Champions Trophy panel with the ICC citing security concerns raised by the Indian board.
