Broughton cleared over high bump
Fremantle midfielder Greg Broughton has been cleared by the AFL match review panel over a high bump on Melbourne's Ricky Petterd.
Broughton appeared to crash into Petterd's head with his shoulder, during the third quarter of Sunday's opening round pre-season match at Subiaco.
But the match review panel deemed Broughton's actions as reasonable in the circumstances, saying the collision was inevitable as the two players approached a loose ball from opposite directions.
They said Petterd had also contributed to the high nature of the contact by stumbling and Broughton did not leave the ground.
The incident, which was the subject of a match-day report, was the only one assessed by the panel from the weekend's four games, with no reports laid.
