Footy player accused of attack on rival
A footy player has been charged after he allegedly hit an opponent during a game, leaving the victim with severe facial injuries.
The 18-year-old Australian Rules player is facing a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to a rival during a match between the Western Magpies and the Noosa Tigers in Brisbane in June.
Police allege the man was knocked out by the blow and needed hospital treatment for severe facial injuries.
The accused, from Cooroibah on the Sunshine Coast, will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
