Melbourne veteran Adem Yze is a surprise nomination for the AFL pre-season draft.

Yze was among four delisted players who lodged their nominations before the 2pm (AEDT) deadline on Tuesday.

As expected, former Fremantle onballer Josh Carr and Melbourne's Chris Johnson lodged their paperwork.

David Gourdis, who did not play a game for Richmond, also has nominated.

Carr is set to return to Port Adelaide and Carlton are likely to recruit Johnson in next Tuesday's draft.

Yze, 31, played 271 games for the Demons before they decided late this season not to offer him a new contract.
