No charges laid against Sharks players
Four first-grade rugby league players who were questioned by police over an assault at a Sydney rock concert have been released without charge.
Cronulla Sharks players Jacob Selmes, Dustin Cooper, Brett Kearney and Ben Pomeroy were questioned at Sydney's City Central police station about an incident at Sunday night's concert by American heavy rockers Korn, a club spokesman said.
No charges were laid against the four players, who police released pending further inquiries.
Without naming the players, police said four men had been assisting them with their inquiries after a 24-year-old concertgoer was approached by another man at Sydney's Entertainment Centre and punched in the face.
The 24-year-old was treated by paramedics for facial injuries but was not taken to hospital.
"No charges have been laid. They've been released pending further inquiries," a police spokeswoman said.
It is understood one of the four players had been accused of throwing the punch.
Cronulla spokesman Rob Willis confirmed all four players were at the concert.
"They were there but when I spoke to them this morning they denied any involvement in any incident," Mr Willis said.
Cronulla football manager Steve Litvensky was also at City Central police station helping officers with their inquiries, he said.
