Kings lose concentration, game
The Sydney Kings will have to wait another week to lock up a semi-final spot in the National Basketball League after a horror match against Victoria Giants.
Victoria won 111-103 to make it seven successive wins against the Kings at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Giants guard Adonis Jordan, the basket rim and some unusual refereeing decisions were the telling factors.
Jordan punished the Kings with seven three-point shots from 11 attempts as he led the visitors with 28, supported by 26 from Jamahl Mosley and 20 by Nathan Crosswell.
"Having Jordan back helped the team and this win is the highlight of the season," Giants coach Mark Wright said.
"I felt the Kings were not mentally prepared for us tonight after flogging us by 40 points two meetings ago."
The Giants were better at scoring, rebounding and out-hustling the Kings, taking control midway through the first quarter.
Both teams were coming off last round wins but the Giants ignored their bottom place on the ladder to better handle the pressure.
For the Kings, Matt Neilsen had a match-high 29 with Chris Williams adding 22 and 19 from Kavossy Franklin.
"We had a game plan and when we do it, it's pretty good but tonight it came and went in patches," Kings coach Brian Goorjian said.
