Wildcats pile misery on Razorbacks
Perth moved into the NBL top two and stretched West Sydney's losing sequence to 19 with a 101-81 win over the Razorbacks at Challenge Stadium in Perth.
In a match full of spice with West Sydney guard James Harvey involved in several run-ins with both Brad Robbins and Darren Brooks, the Wildcats outscored the visitors 29-15 in the last term to ensure the Razorbacks remained rooted to the bottom of the ladder.
West Sydney had closed to within four in the fourth quarter, but managed only one basket in the final four minutes as the Wildcats applied the defensive pressure.
The Razorbacks got off to a horrendous start as the home side opened up an early 12-0 lead, West Sydney not troubling the scorers in the opening five minutes.
Perth's lead got out to as much as 18 in the opening half before a West Sydney fightback saw the gap whittled down to just 13 at the main break.
The Wildcats relied on a balanced scoring attack with big man Paul Rogers leading with 20 points and guard Peter Crawford 18.
The Razorbacks were best served by a pair of former Wildcats, Liam Rush top-scoring with 18 and James Harvey contributing 14.
The Wildcats next face Adelaide at home on Friday night, while the Razorbacks play Cairns in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday.
