Molik crashes out of US Open
Australian wildcard Alicia Molik is out of the US Open after suffering a straight-sets first-round defeat at the hands of American teenager Vania King.
Molik, the world No.203 these days, lost 6-3 6-2 in 64 minutes to the 70th-ranked King to leave Samantha Stosur and Nicole Pratt as Australia's only two remaining players in the women's singles draw.
Stosur takes on Czech Lucie Safarova at Flushing Meadows, while Pratt, Lleyton Hewitt and Mark Philippoussis each play their first-round matches either Tuesday or Wednesday.
