The Russian-born Frenchwoman and No.5 seed will partner Hingis in the doubles on Tuesday against the Athens Olympics gold medallist pairing of Ting Li and Tiantian Sun.
In an earlier match on Monday night, defending champion Patty Schnyder of Switzerland advanced to the second round with a 6-3 7-6 (7-2) victory over France's Virginie Razzano.
