There are no Australians left in the draw following Monday night's ousting of Queensland veteran Nicole Pratt, who went down 7-5 6-2 to world No.24 Tatiana Golovin.
The Russian-born Frenchwoman and No.5 seed will partner Hingis in the doubles on Tuesday against the Athens Olympics gold medallist pairing of Ting Li and Tiantian Sun.
In an earlier match on Monday night, defending champion Patty Schnyder of Switzerland advanced to the second round with a 6-3 7-6 (7-2) victory over France's Virginie Razzano.
