Australia's Nicole Pratt is through to the second round of the Qatar Open in Doha after a 7-5 6-2 win over Tunisia's Selima Sfar.
But Samantha Stosur has bowed out of the tournament after losing 6-2 6-3 to Japan's Ai Sugiyama.
Pratt will join compatriot Alicia Molik in the second round after the tournament fourth seed received a bye in the opening round.
