Chook sex video duo may be sidelined

North Melbourne's coach Dean Laidley says he is unsure if the two AFL players who have taken the fall for the now-infamous chook sex video, Adam Simpson and Daniel Pratt, will play against Hawthorn on Sunday.

Laidley said he would assess the mental toll taken on the pair by the saga before deciding whether they will play against the premiers.

Simpson and Pratt admitted they were among a group of seven players involved in producing a video, meant only to be seen in-house but eventually broadcast on the internet, which has been roundly condemned as tasteless and degrading to women.

Both fronted the Nine Network's AFL Footy Show on Wednesday night to admit they were the most senior players involved in making the four-minute film, titled The Adventures of Little Boris.

The video, featuring a condom-clad rubber chicken performing sex acts, has put a hot media spotlight on the club and AFL players in general over their attitudes to women.

Simpson, a 15-year AFL veteran, and the experienced Pratt have both apologised profusely.

After North initially said it would not take disciplinary action against the players involved, the AFL has demanded something be done.

It is likely to lead to club-imposed fines of up to $5,000 for all seven players involved.

Laidley will name a 25-man squad later on Thursday but won't have to make a decision on his final 22 until Friday.

And he questioned whether Simpson and Pratt would be in the right frame of mind to play following the video scandal.

"We don't know if Adam and Daniel are going to play to be quite honest," Laidley said.

"We'll need to assess where they're at. It's thrown a bit of a spanner in the works in regards to our team selection.

"But we'll work closely with those guys and if they're fit to play they'll play.

"If not, we'll make some changes."
