Cats skinned by Hawks in Perth
Wollongong has continued its stunning away form, blitzing the Perth Wildcats 119-92 in an NBL match at Challenge Stadium.
The Hawks, coming off a successful Sunshine Swing road trip where they accounted for both Cairns and Townsville, led throughout the match to cruise home by 27 points.
It is the second successive flogging for the Wildcats who had a midweek 124-91 hiding from Sydney at the Kingdome.
Hawks import Cortez Groves nailed 20 for the first half on his way to 28 for the game.
He was well supported by Australian Boomer Glen Saville, who finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds and American Adam Ballinger who scored 22.
For the Wildcats, Matt Shanahan, Peter Crawford and Shawn Redhage all contributed 18 points.
The Hawks set up the thrashing with a devastating third quarter.
They jumped away after the main break with a 12-2 run leading towards a 33-20 third quarter carve-up - Saville netting 12 points.
In a game when Perth centres Paul Rogers and Matt Burston returned from injury, their big man injury curse struck again with skipper Tony Ronaldson exiting the game midway through the first term with a calf injury.
Wollongong coach Brendan Joyce was delighted with his team's effort.
