The Perth Wildcats have won in New Zealand for the first time after a third-quarter barrage destroyed the Breakers in a 109-93 NBL result in Auckland.

The Wildcats' win was their second in a row and even further from home than last weekend's triumph in Singapore.

Despite the injection of two new players, the cellar-dwelling Breakers slumped to their seventh straight defeat.

Shortest man on the court David Bailey was a persistent scorer for Perth with his floating shots and 20-year-old Cameron Tovey was a solid performer.

The Wildcats took a 30-22 lead at quarter time after the visitors broke clear with a Matt Shanahan three-pointer and took advantage of some slack Breakers' defence.

Brand new US import Brian Green made his presence felt for the home team when he came on to make some flamboyant scores but proved less reliable on the free throw line.

The Breakers pulled the margin back to four points in the second quarter before five unanswered scores by the Wildcats delivered them a 55-43 lead at halftime.

Perth's accuracy outside the arc compared with their opponents made much of the difference and some Breakers misses from the charity strip made it hard for the home side to stay in touch.

Then it was one-way traffic in the third quarter and two Breakers' time outs failed to put the brakes on the Wildcats' consecutive scoring.

Perth outscored New Zealand by 31-17 in the quarter and went into the final stanza up 86-60.
