Roosters dump Mini, Wing
The Sydney Roosters took the high moral ground with stars Anthony Minichiello and Craig Wing, standing down the pair for the club's next NRL game against the New Zealand Warriors.
Minichiello - who was axed by NSW last Friday - and Wing met with Roosters coach Ricky Stuart, chief executive Brian Canavan and deputy chairman Michael Conn.
At that meeting they were told they would be stood down by the Roosters for being in a "restricted area" during a wild night out with NSW teammates in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
It's understood Roosters are banned from going to Kings Cross, Oxford Street or the Coogee Palace.
"We have specific guidelines and specific places players are restricted from and the two players were in those restricted areas," Stuart said.
"That's what we're acting on. We're not acting on anything in relation to the State of Origin team itself as they have already been disciplined because of that.
"There's a number of restricted areas, we have specified this to the players."
Minichiello and Wing, along with several NSW teammates, went for a drink at a hotel in Kings Cross during a Blues' bonding session last week.
Mark Gasnier - who has been indefinitely suspended by St George Illawarra - and Minichiello were sacked by the Blues following an obscene call made by Gasnier on Minichiello's mobile phone.
Wing was one of five NSW players fined by the NSWRL for "unprofessional behaviour" for leaving the team hotel.
