No Origin hangover for Roosters: Wing
Despite toasting the Blues' rugby league success, NSW utility Craig Wing says there is no chance the Sydney Roosters will suffer a State of Origin hangover against the Eels at Parramatta Stadium come Saturday night.
Queensland backrower Michael Crocker (ribs) is the only member of the Roosters' six-strong Origin contingent in doubt to run on against the lowly Eels, who have lost three straight and eight of their last 10.
Wing will join fellow Origin stars Brad Fittler, Craig Fitzgibbon, Anthony Minichiello and Chris Flannery in the Roosters' line-up.
Despite playing just days after an emotional representative send-off to Fittler and Phil Gould - the NSW coach and Roosters' coaching director - Wing said there was no chance of the title favourites dropping their guard against the desperate Eels.
"At training we didn't even mention Origin. We haven't really thought about it at all, we've just got our minds on tomorrow's game," Wing said.
"I'm a bit sore but it's just a few bumps and bruises like the rest of the guys - once we get the blood pumping we will be right.
"It's pretty hard backing up...but once you start running around it's not so bad."
Wing said the Roosters still had not forgiven themselves for the last time they were on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
The Roosters (1st; 12-3 record) have only lost to top five sides - Penrith, Brisbane and Bulldogs - this year.
But it seems their last defeat - a 40-12 shellacking at the hands of the Bulldogs on June 4 - still leaves a bitter taste.
