Anasta calls on NRL to reward loyalty
Sydney Roosters skipper Braith Anasta has called on the NRL to introduce a salary cap allowance that would reward players like Anthony Minichiello for loyal service to their club.
"I definitely believe that players should be rewarded for long service, especially for guys like Mini [Minichiello] who's been at this club forever," Anasta said.
"He deserves to stay here and finish his career."
Minichiello has been in his 11th year of loyal service for the Roosters and needs to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.
The NRL have been discussing the concept of increasing the salary cap concession, which currently stands at $100,000, for players who have played a certain number of years for a club.
However, they have to reveal when or how the change may be implemented.
"I think the sooner we get that Independent Commission, the better," Anasta said.
