Apologetic Stuart praises Minichiello
Anthony Minichiello received an apology from his coach Ricky Stuart after helping the Sydney Roosters to a 30-16 win over Canberra in the NRL match at Central Coast Stadium.
One of five Roosters players backing up from Wednesday night's Origin, Stuart apologised for leaving the Roosters fullback on the field for the full duration of the game.
"I apologised to him after I couldn't get him off ... I had to be careful with what I did with my bench," Stuart said.
"He said it wasn't that fast a game, but I thought it was a very fast game.
"It just shows how much endurance he's got.
"His ability to handle the ball, his speed, it's amazing.
"I don't like calling footballers athletes, I don't think a lot of them are athletes, but he's the sort of bloke that perform at other sports and does it well."
Minichiello was one of the stars for the Roosters, who consigned the Raiders to their fifth loss in seven matches.
The Raiders, who were equal premiership leaders in round nine, are now in danger of dropping out of the top eight, depending on results from other matches this weekend.
The Roosters, on the other hand, have now won three matches in succession to cement a place in the top eight after a sluggish start to the season.
