Minichiello confident of full recovery
Injured Sydney Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello says he is certain he will make a full recovery from a bulging disc in his neck and return to the NRL this year.
Minichiello has been crippled by back and neck injuries for the past three years with his latest concern ruling him out of any contact work for at least six weeks.
Despite the ongoing problems with his spinal region the former Test and NSW star is adamant he won't let the injury cut short his stellar football career.
"I will be back this year," said Minichiello. "I just have to rest it and make sure it is right before I come back.
"The specialist says I should be able to return to football."
At just 28 years of age there are concerns the ongoing problems would curtail Minichiello's football career.
He has spoken at length with retired Newcastle great Andrew Johns about managing neck problems and has no doubt he can continue his career for at least another few seasons.
