Players probed over bonding session
NSW preparations for the opening State of Origin game were in disarray after claims a leading player left an obscene message on a woman's phone.
The allegations followed reports three players had been involved in an early morning incident on a bus after an all-night bonding session.
The Australian Rugby League said it had investigated both incidents and was confident the players had done nothing wrong.
It's understood the player involved in the phone sex scandal said he had lost his mobile earlier in the night.
Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported a message was still on a woman's phone saying, in part, "there's four toey humans in the cab...and you're in bed. F... me - fire up".
The ARL also received a report three players had been seen catching public transport following a late-night drinking session.
ARL chief executive Geoff Carr said the matter had been investigated and the players had been cleared of any wrongdoing.
However, Carr conceded it wasn't a good look for the game in the wake of the recent Bulldogs sex scandal.
NSW assistant coach Laurie Daley said the players had been unable to hail a cab so they decided to catch a bus.
"Let me say this, there was no incident on the bus," Daley said on Fox Sports.
