Eagles fined for mobile phone breach
West Coast have been fined $5000 by the AFL for using a mobile phone on the ground during the three-quarter time break of last week's loss to North Melbourne.
Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui were caught on camera talking on the mobile phone to the club's ruck coach Simon Eastaugh, who had remained in Perth and was watching the match on television.
The Eagles could have been fined up to $25,000 but the AFL deemed the breach was inadvertent and at the lower end.
The AFL also took into account the club's admission and apology over the incident.
West Coast coach John Worsfold said the club would devise a way for Eastaugh to pass on his messages within the laws of the AFL.
"We'll still have some way of communicating with our players if we need to," Worsfold said.
"We'll just make sure we know what we're allowed to do.
"He can ring and talk to one of our other coaches in the box who can relay the message.
"I've just got to check we can do that."
