Gasnier says he's not going to Wigan
St George Illawarra centre Mark Gasnier quashed rumours he was headed for English club Wigan at the end of this NRL season.
Gasnier was linked with the Super League club last year before signing a long-term deal with the Dragons.
The 22-year-old scored four tries in St George Illawarra's 50-0 win over Wests Tigers at Oki Jubilee Stadium before hosing down speculation he was England-bound.
"I think Dousty has enough headaches on his plate to start that up again," Gasnier said in reference to chief executive Peter Doust's attempts to re-sign several big-name players coming off contract.
"I've heard that much about myself over the last year."
Gasnier has been in and out of the news for most of the season.
The classy centre took time off earlier this season amid speculation he was ready to retire from rugby league.
He bounced back to win a place in the NSW side for the opening State of Origin game but was dropped before the game following a wild bonding session.
The Dragons fined Gasnier $50,000 for making a lewd phone call to a woman during the bonding session and he was suspended for a round 11 match against Parramatta.
One-time Kangaroo Gasnier suffered an ankle injury against Brisbane the following week which has troubled him ever since and he left the field early against the Tigers as a precautionary measure.
